The Leigh Community Club, the Leigh Area Foundation, the Village of Leigh as well as the Citizens State Bank - Leigh have worked together for all types of development in the Leigh community.
The Leigh Area Foundation, organized in 1988, has a six member Board of Directors. The foundation, with strong support from the community and assistance from the Northeast Nebraska Economic Development District, was very instrumental in enabling Leigh to be the recipient of two housing rehabilitation grants. To date, 29 homes have been positively impacted under this program. In late 1999, the Foundation, the Bank of Leigh and the Village cooperated in the establishment of the eight-plex for senior living. During the past several years, the following new businesses were established in Leigh: J & L Auto, Leigh Vet Services, Heartland Nutrition and Just Another Mini-Mart C Store.
The Village of Leigh and the Leigh Foundation have funds available from their economic reloan fund for industrial development. These funds can be supplemented by the revolving loan funding through Northeast Nebraska Economic Development District, of which Leigh is an active member. This relationship is a valuable asset in pro-financial packaging for industrial development opportunities.
The price of land for industrial purposes ranges from $1,100 to $1,900 per acre.
